Frequently Asked Questions
The PicoWay® Laser represents a giant leap forward in treating tattoos. This laser emits a beam of light that shatters the ink into tiny pieces that are absorbed harmlessly by the body. All this can be accomplished without damaging the surrounding tissue. The biggest advantages of the PicoWay® Laser is that it can remove tattoos in fewer treatments and with less risk.
The PicoWay™ laser is much more precise and powerful than the competition, which means that its power is better at blasting stubborn ink pigments into fragments that the body can dispose of.
In addition to its ability to break down black ink pigment, the PicoWay™ is also especially effective at treating tattoos with black, red, or certain shades of green ink, and can also remove these colors in far fewer treatment sessions than other lasers on the market.
Normally 8-10 treatment sessions with the PicoWay™ are sufficient to completely remove most tattoos. Treatment can also be used to simply fade a tattoo in preparation for a cover up tattoo, which takes fewer sessions.
The total number of treatments and duration of treatments will depend on the desired tattoo removal results. That being said, you will be able to see initial improvement as early as after the very first laser treatment! Multiple treatment sessions are required to thoroughly “remove” the tattoo. The good part about our system is that the recovery time and speed of treatment is faster than other laser equipment.
PicoWay is FDA cleared for certain uses: acne scars, wrinkles, dark spots and tattoo removal. If you are looking for other laser treatment, such as hair removal, then PicoWay is not the treatment for you.
While PicoWay works across a broad range of skin types, depending on the wavelength needed for your treatment, PicoWay may not be the best treatment for your skin type.
PicoWay is a treatment that typically involves treatment over a series of treatment sessions, so that is an important consideration in your treatment decision. The PicoWay treatment providers at Laser Lifestyle can walk you through your treatment needs and will be the best source for determining whether PicoWay is right for you.
Side effects with PicoWay are typically transient and expected as part of the laser treatment. Patients experience low to no downtime. In some cases, patients may use a topical anesthetic to enhance comfort during the treatment. More common side effects include redness, swelling, pinpoint bleeding, tingling or purplish spots. These effects will differ, however, depending on the treatment you receive.
Our Technology
The Candela Picoway Laser Tattoo Removal System
Unlike other laser tattoo removal lasers on the market, the Candela PicoWay™ laser uses uniquely advanced technology to ensure that the effectiveness of the wavelength is never compromised.
PicoSure™ can remove black ink very effectively, dense black ink sometimes responds better to the 1064nm wavelength used in the PicoWay™ laser in the beginning stages of removal. Our PicoWay™ laser tattoo removal system is much more precise and powerful than competing options, which means that its power is better at blasting stubborn ink pigments into fragments that the body can dispose of.
The Candela PicoWay™ is the newest Picosecond laser and features three wavelengths: 1064 nm, 785 nm, and 532 nm. This laser effectively breaks up ink into tiny particles that are easily passed out of the body through the lymphatic system with minimal damage to surrounding tissues.
